You know, when I see fictional characters who repress all their emotions, they’re usually aloof and very blunt about keeping people at a distance, sometimes to an edgy degree—but what I don’t see nearly enough are the emotionally repressed characters who are just…mellow.
Think about it. In real life, the person that’s bottling up all their emotions is not the one that’s brooding in the corner and snaps at you for trying to befriend them. More often than not, it’s that friendly person in your circle who makes easy conversation with you, laughs with you, and listens and gives advice whenever you’re upset. But you never see them upset, in fact they seem to have endless patience for you and everything around them—and so you call them their friend, you trust them. And only after months of telling them all your secrets do you realize…
…they’ve never actually told you anything about themselves.
Adding onto this: characters who are so deeply repressed that they don’t even realize they’re not fine, or at the very least not supposed to be fine. Characters who do tell you about a situation they’re in that should be bad, but instantly laugh it off saying they can handle it (spoiler: they can, in fact, not handle it). Characters who laugh with you and listen to all your woes and much later you learn that they were actually going through something at least equally bad at the time, but they wave it off and don’t want to speak of it. Characters whose main coping mechanism seems to be “don’t think about it” on endless loop.
Basically, the fictional embodiment of the “this is fine” dog.
“characters” who do this.

pro tip for disabled people (especially autistic people) that i just realized after literal years of chronic illness…
when a health professional asks how you’re doing, it’s not small talk. they want to know how your health has been. do not reply “good.” if you seem them for chronic pain, talk about your pain. if you see them for mental health, tell them how you’ve been feeling. etc. etc. again… don’t reply “good.” jump right into it and be honest about your health.

friendly reminder for the new twitter refugees:
- change your icon/pfp and put something coherent in your blog description or you’re going to get blocked bcs people think you’re a bot
- this site is built around reblogs, so please actually reblog posts(especially art and fics!!)
- you can set your likes and follows to private
- checkmarks here are a meme and mean nothing
- follower counts are private and we like it that way, so get used to not judging people by that metric
- drama and discourse is boring, use your blacklist and block button liberally
- DON’T CENSOR YOURSELF!! we can swear and say kill and make fun of corporations all we want, and if you tiktok-ify your tags people who have things blacklisted for whatever reason will still see them, and people who want to see that content won’t be able to find it!! spell words out normally, you won’t get in trouble!!
- tumblr live is sketchy as hell and full of fake accounts, if you decide to use it anyway may god have mercy on your soul o7
- be nice to the reddit refugees, they’re our friends <3
I feel like not enough people say it,
If you are mistaken for a bot, you will not just be blocked, but reported for spam

feels like a majority of the time being like “sorry if that was weird”, “sorry if that made you uncomfortable”, “sorry if I’m being annoying” etc. is more likely to come off as weird, make someone uncomfortable, or feel annoyed than whatever was initially said
sorry if that was extremely cute and funny btw
